On April 15, China President Xi Jinping and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had a telephone conversation, and the leaders of the two countries jointly expressed their willingness to continuously deepen China-Saudi comprehensive strategic partnership, continue to promote the docking of the "Belt and Road" Initiative with Saudi Arabia's "Vision 2030", and create a high-level cooperation pattern in the fields of energy, economy and trade and high technology between two countries. In this context, on April 17, Chinese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Chen Weiqing, CEO of the Royal Commission at Jubail Dr. Ahmed Zaid Al Hussain and other Chinese and Saudi governmental officials made a special inspection to the Shengong Saudi Plastic New Materials and Electronic Optics Industrial Manufacturing Base Project (hereinafter referred to as "Shengong Saudi Project") located in Jubail Industrial City, visiting the project plants and learning more about the current production and operation of the project.
Under the guidance of China-Saudi production capacity cooperation key platform ---Saudi Silk Road Industrial Service Company (hereinafter referred to as "Silk Road Co."), Shengong Saudi Project becomes a role model of “successfully going global” projects for China-Saudi International production capacity cooperation. This project will utilize the resources of Saudi petroleum refining and chemical products to develop and produce the modified materials required for plastic parts in specific industries such as aviation and automobiles,etc. Under the continuous promotion of the Silk Road Co., the first phase of the project has been officially put into production, the second phase has been officially started, and maintained close cooperations with international giants such as Saudi Aramco and SABIC. In the future, Silk Road Co. will continue to promote the investment and development of Chinese enterprises in Saudi Arabia, promote the in-depth docking of China's "Belt and Road" Initiative and Saudi Arabia's "Vision 2030", and promote the production capacity cooperation between China and Saudi Arabia to continue to make new achievements.
